This course will examine the topic of family engagement aligned to literacy and how teacher partnerships can grow family understanding of literacy from varying levels of elementary and secondary needs. Particular emphasis will be placed on the impact of factors on outcomes of students and families of varying backgrounds as they engage with developing an understanding of the SDOE literacy model.   

By the end of this course, participants will be able to: 

1. Demonstrate knowledge and engagement of family engagement aligned to literacy. 

2. Understand the benefits of connecting family, community, and schools.  

3. Understand specific elements of partnership programming that can improve student learning through family engagement through the lens of literacy.
