Recalibrate the Culture (End of January-March 2025)

This course has been developed into 6 Modules where we will examine the challenges that teachers, leaders, and school face.  We will be using Jimmy Casas book Recalibrate the Culture:  Our Work, Our Why, Our Values.

This book is a follow-up to his bestseller, Culturize: Every Student, Every Day.  Whatever It Takes.  We will dig deeper into the Four Core Principles of Positive School Culture introduced to us in Jimmy Casas book Culturize.  Using the Four Core Principlesof Positive School Culture, cultivating a community of leaders, seeing the culture through the eyes of others.  When implemented well, these Four Core Principles of Positive School Culture allow people to reach their potential, guiding our actions that can be used to put into practice, creating a positive culture where children can thrive to their fullest potential.  Jimmy Casas states, " I don't care what the words on the wall say.  I want to walk into a school, and I want to see the behaviors that resemble the words on those walls, that match the words on the walls, that mirror the words on the walls.  He says that he sees "behaviors as values."

We will learn:

• How to create an environment where all learners are challenged and inspired to do their best.
• How to take an honest look at culture to help us shift away from pointing the finger and blaming others.
• Examine our own behaviors to see how we often create the negative under currents that exist in our classroom, school, district
• We will partcipate in weekly instruction and discussion forums and refelction assignments.

*All work must be completed by the end of the 6-week period to receive CECH.

This course has been designed for you to work independently at your own pace over the 6-week period.  All work must be completed within the given time frame.
