The Check & Connect Mentor (Rapid City) training is a competency-based training designed to provide Check & Connect mentors with the information, competencies, and skills needed to be an effective Check & Connect mentor at their local site. Participants will learn about and understand—

  1. The core components and elements of Check & Connect o The role and expectations of the Check & Connect mentor
  2. The population of students they are mentoring and how to best meet their needs
  3. How to implement the "Check" and "Connect" procedures with fidelity
  4. The competencies and skills needed to be an effective mentor, such as:
    1. Building relationships with students, families, and school personnel
    2. Using data to determine interventions
    3. Reflective listening and Problem–solving
    4. Engaging with families
