Full course description
Target Audience: Teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals, and related service providers of students with significant cognitive disabilities (the 1% of students who participate in alternate assessment).
The Office of Special Education Programs is offering virtual, half-hour SD 1% CoP sessions on the following October dates/times/topics:
- Oct. 2 – 12pmCT / 11amMT – alternate academic achievement standards (Core Content Connectors)
- Oct. 9 – 12pmCT / 11amMT – alternate IEP goals with objectives/benchmarks
- Oct. 16 – 12pmCT / 11amMT – alternate state and district assessment
- Oct. 23 – 12pmCT / 11amMT – alternate report cards
Each half-hour session will include federal laws and DOE guidance regarding students with significant cognitive disabilities, followed by informal time for district special education staff to network, ask questions, and share successful district examples regarding students in the 1% population. The DOE guidance portion of each session will be recorded and uploaded into the "Modules" section of this course through Dec. 19.
