Full course description
The Office of Special Education Programs invites special education professionals and school administrators to view this two-hour webinar recording regarding lessons learned from past court cases involving Individual Education Programs (IEPs). Two continuing education contact hours (CECH) are available.
In 2024, what did courts have to say about the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and what do these cases have to teach us? Experienced school attorney Elena M. Gallegos will review carefully chosen federal court cases from 2024, based on the practical lessons they have to offer, and provide forward-looking practical pointers based on these cases. The issues covered will include IEP team decision-making and parent participation, timely implementation, free appropriate public education (FAPE), least restrictive environment (LRE), addressing behavior as part of the IEP, and manifestation determination review (MDR).
