2026 School Librarian Leadership Retreat Details

  • Theme: The Amplified School Librarian
    • This year’s retreat will focus on amplifying the impact of school librarians through leadership, innovation, collaboration, and reflection. Grounded in the framework of The Professional, The Program, and The Place, participants will explore the evolving role of school librarians, share ideas and challenges, and strengthen connections with colleagues from across South Dakota.
  • Dates: Sunday, July 26 (1pm) - Monday, July 27 (2:45pm)
  • Location: SD State Library, Pierre
  • Guests: SD School Librarians
  • Purpose: The School Librarian Leadership Retreat is an annual gathering that brings school librarians together to reflect on their practice, strengthen their leadership, and connect with colleagues from across the state. Through collaboration and shared learning centered on The Professional, The Program, and The Place, participants explore challenges and innovations in school librarianship, exchange ideas, and build meaningful professional connections. The retreat provides space for reflection, inspiration, and renewed energy as librarians prepare for the upcoming school year.
  • Available Credits: 15 CECHs or 1 G/UG Credit via USF (registered & paid for by the participant)
