Full course description
The New Director Success Program is a year-long professional development experience designed specifically for new (0-4 years) public library directors in South Dakota. The program combines practical leadership training, an orientation to South Dakota State Library services and resources, opportunities for peer connection, and ongoing reflection and application.
Rather than serving as a one-time orientation, the program provides new directors with a year of structured learning and relationship-building as they navigate their first years in the role.
The overarching goal of the program is to prepare confident new library directors who understand their responsibilities, know how to access the support and resources available to them, and have begun developing a professional network they can rely upon throughout their careers.
